The 2nd Coming of Obama: Elections 2012 Thoughts

Given unemployment officially at nearly 8% (real unemployment closer to 16%), higher than any President has been re-elected since FDR, an economy that is barely grinding along, and more than 60% of the electorate oposed to Obama care, I really thought the GOP had one of their best shots at retaking the Senate and Dethroning President Obama and his Socialist (yes, I said it) agenda.

I was so wrong.  My first hint that things were not likely to go in favor of the GOP was watching a few clips of Candidate Gov. Romney at some campaign rallies.  He did not have the energy he had when it looked like he would win and I wondered "does he have internal polling showing that his campaign was in trouble or is he just tired?"  Neither was a good sign.  Then along came Hurricane Sandy...which according to President Clinton was the reason Obama won.  Regardless I was wrong.

So what do I think the re-election of President Obama and the continual control of the Senate by the democrat party means?  Well, first I think America has turned the corner were more americans believe that Government spending and regulations is the solution to all their problems instead of their own Solutions, Ingenuity, Hard Work, Resilience, and Responsibility.  Secondly, I think a majority of americans have come to Trust in Government rather than Trust In God.  Thirdly, liberal politicians hae successfully convinced people that they can get Government benefits ("largess from the public treasury" as Touqueville stated) with no cost to themselves, their families, or their children, thus those who benefit from those benefits are afraid to vote against the party who will continue, maintain, and possibly increase those "freebies."  Fourth, a majority of americans voted for their own selfishness, instead of for the future welfare of the country and their own children and grandchildren's economic wellbeing.  Fifth, most americans agree that our biggest economic problem is government spending that is higher than our current tax level, thus increasing our nations indebtedness, which will be paid back eventually with higher tax rates on us and future generations. But regardless of this realization a majority of americans voted to re-elect a President and Congress who has spent more "borrowed" money than any President and Congress before, almost doubling our national debt in four years.

My concern going forward:  now that President Obama does not have to run for re-election and has a liberally controlled Senate to support his agenda it will be extremely difficult for conservatives to slow, let alone stop, our country's steep slide into a socialist state.  If conservatives are unable to rally the american people against an increasingly socialistic, liberal, statist agenda, the ability for americans to have the liberty to pursue economic endeavors free from government intervention will be a thing of the past.  The ability to live life freely without government interveening in every minutiae of life will be a thing of the past as well (think government regulation of health issues...can't have a large soda, or can't eat a crispy creme donut because it might make you too fat which is unhealthy).

Having read the constitution many times as well as the Federalist papers, I honestly believe our founding fathers would be ashamed of the america we have voted into being as opposed to the america they envisioned.

Do I think it is the end of the America we have known and loved; an America built on Freedom, Liberty, and Equal Opportunity; maybe, maybe not, but I know I will continue to advocate, encourage, promote, and fight for an America based on  a Constitutional Representative Republic that stands for the Freedom to pursue Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness through the equal opportunity to achieve all that a citizen can through hard work.  I will also continue to profess the need for our country to base its laws, freedoms, justice system, etc. on a solid Judeo-Christian value system (with out which self-government will fail).

Our Conservative priorities need to be:  Pursue God, His Kingdom, and Wisdom.  Value Life, Freedom, Faith, and Liberty.  Vote our Values.  And continue to fight the good fight for our countries

When I (S.L. Carroll) graduated from college in 2004, I couldn't find a job in my degree field so I went back through my resume and looked at all the companies I had worked for during college. One of them was Walmart, so I applied at a Walmart store in my area. To my surprise and relief they called me back. They had an open position as an overnight stocker that paid $8.10 an hour. I accepted.

My college degrees in Aviation and Human Resources Development didn't help me get the third shift stocking job, but they would prove invaluable in my getting promoted quickly.  A year of experience with the companyt, along with my degrees, got me a promotion from overnight stocker to Foods Department Manager in four months, and with the accompaning raise I was then making $9.10 an hour. Six months after that, I applied for the open Sporting Goods Department Manager position. That promotion bumped me to $10 an hour.

I needed another promotion, but in order to make more money I knew would have to become an assistant manager. I applied and was turned down.  I waited three months and applied for the assistant manager position again. Again I was turned down.

I applied at Walgreens. Two weeks later I interviewed and then they called me said that I had the job and asked me if $14.25 per hour was all right.  I told them it was. It was a $4.25 raise over what I was making at Walmart. I was ecstatic. I had gone from $8.10 an hour to $14.25 an hour in a little more than a year and a half.  Within two and a half years with performance raises and cost of living raises, I managed to go from making $8.10 an hour to $17.50 an hour.

It took a lot of hard work, determination and job changes, but I did it. Between July of 2004 and May of 2008, I had more than doubled my income

Now here is a gentleman that knows how to get it done.  No whining, just set a goal and go about achieving it.  Cudo's to Mr. Carroll.  I wish all college graduates had his view of life!

Good News for Conservatives

10/27/2012

42% of 18 to 19 year olds consider themselves conservative.  Also the 20 to 30 year olds are swinging towards fiscal conservatism.  The only thing holding back a tidal wave of change from liberal to conservatism among the youth vote is social issues!  Now there is the rub.  Apparently conservatives have not been able to win the argument for life, for family values, for liberty, and opportunity.  Much of this comes from the view that conservatives want to punish women who are pregnant due to rape or incest (if you get pregnant for other reasons then it was a decision), or who want to legalize hate of homosexuals (how is standing for traditional marriage hate?), or that conservatives wish harm to illegal immigrants.

This is the view put forth by a liberal media, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, Gannet....  It is not the truth.

Paying Higher Taxes a "Moral" Obligation?

10/27/2012

Do the wealthiest Americans have a "moral" obligation to pay higher taxes?

California Governor Jerry Brown thinks so. Under Prop. 30, the two-time Democratic governor is calling for a 3% tax hike on the state's richest 1% to help pay for the cash-strapped state's education system.

"It takes a refined theory to say to billionaires that it's easier to take three weeks of school away from kids in Los Angeles than it is to take 3% away from people who make hundreds of millions of dollars a year," said Brown.

Prop. 30 calls for a sales tax increase and staggered tax increases over seven years for individuals making $250,000 and families earning $500,000 or more.

To further promote Prop. 30 and appeal to religious voters, Brown cited the Bible. "Luke 12:48 says: 'For those of whom much has been given, much is required.' Those at the high end can brace themselves for seven years and lend school kids a helping hand. I appeal to their sense of loyalty and fairness,"   ( By Stacy Curtin | Daily Ticker – Friday, Oct 26, 2012 9:59 AM EDT)

Taxes, Taxes, Taxes!  Instead of controlling spending a liberal elected official always (post the John F. Kennedy era) default to raising taxes.  And Governor Brown even tries to use the word's of Jesus Christ to cajole, intimidate, confuse, whatever-it-takes, to get the masses to vote to penalize the wealthy, the acheivers.

Yes Jesus said 'For those of whom much has been given, much is required.', but no where does he claim that it is a government's place to force some one to give of their possessions to the powers-that-be so that they can use that for their desires, or for the desires of those who elect them to office.  Governor Brown tries to make paying taxes a moral issue in that to not accept higher taxes is somehow immoral and unchristian.  Christians wealthy or not are to be generous with what God has blessed them with.  This is a voluntary thing based on their conscience and the prompting of God's Holy Spirit in their lives.  To force generousity from people via Government coercion is in my opinion Immoral.  Taxing one economic group and not another is discriminatory, unfair, and is nothing less than class warfare.

Our founders had no intentions of people being Taxed for things they could provide for themselves.  If California is haveing trouble then increase taxes on all citizens to fund it or find a way to live within the revenues that come in.  All Californians have access to public education so all Californians should pay.

Governor Brown also appealed to the loyalty and fairness of the Californians who would be affected by this tax increase.  Loyalty? Really?  He expects loyalty to a state that wants to confiscate even more of the property of those who have earned more than others (and yes the money you earn is your property).  That would be like taking the person who mugged you and stole all your cash out to dinner as a thank you for being mugged.  And fairness?  Again really?  Fair is everyone paying the same tax rate, not graduated rates.  Would it be fair if someone who makes more than $250,000 has to pay twice as much at the gas pump as someone who does not, or have to pay three times as much for a refridgerator than someone else does for the same fridge.  If that is unfair, then why should a wealthier citizen have to pay 3% more for public education than someone who is not as wealthy?  Few things are more unfair than our taxations statutes (a wicked scheme?) in the United States and among her States themselves.  So if Governor Brown wants to quote the Bible here is one for him to ponder.

"A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes,  but a person of understanding delights in wisdom." Proverbs 10:23

The Views of a Right Thinking Young Man

Yes, I support gun rights. Yes, I think that money should be first spent on
defense then on social programs. No, I don't think that we correctly spend tax
money. Yes, taxes are a pain. No, I DO NOT support government ran health care.
Yes, I do believe it is part of being a Christian to help those in need. Yes, I
do believe that if someone is in need we should take it out of our own personal
pocket to give them, and that the government shouldn't be trying to force
compassion. Yes, I support regulating pollution that anyone can create. Yes, I
only believe this because each person should show respect for the livelihood of the place they live; not because I like the EPA. Yes, I DO believe that the name of God should NOT be taken from public schools. Yes, this is because my heart breaks when I hear about those who have died and fought for the freedom of our
ONE nation UNDER God.

Daddy Fed and Mommy Gov

Isn't it nice when the Federal Government decides they know how to raise your children better than yourself.  It relieves parents of the God ordained duties of "raising a child in the way he should go," of teaching them to love and honor their parents, of showing them how to respect and obey authority, and to uphold their families values.  Government has encroached over and over into the realm of parental authority and then wonders why more and more children grow up to disrespect authority.  The federal government has approved and upheld most of these encroachments in the the realm reserved for parents.  So it should come as no suprise that New York City Schools are not only passing out contraceptives without parental consent, but are now handing out the morning after pill to those 14 years old and above.  Many families would hold that pre-marital sex is wrong, an adult responsibility, and if engaged in the behaviour then the consequences should be accepted.  Many families believe that the morning after pill is just another method of abortion and that abortion is wrong.  Why should the Government be allowed to interfere in the rights of parents to raise their children in their own values.  Oh yea that would mean allowing American citizens freedom and liberty

Well today Iran's leader Ahmadinejad spoke to the Uniteed Nations Assembly.  Did he tremble from the words of President Obama?  Sadly no.  He accused all of the worlds problems on western nations, especially the United States and Israel.  He called for a new "World Order", presumably an Islamic World Order lead by Iran.  Prepare ye the way for "Lord Ahmadinedjad".

Barak Obama UN Fail

President Obama went to the United Nations and spoke to the UN Assembly.  The topic...violence in the Islamic World.  Did the President uphold the American values of Freedom of Religion and Free Speech?  On the first value there was no mention of the need for Freedom of Religion.  If the Islamic world allowed for freedom of religion there would be no violence toward Christians and it would leave less options for violence toward Israel as well.  And freedom of speech...in the Islamic world freedom of speech, in fact many freedoms that we Americans take as a given, seems foreign or worse, non-existant.

As the Heritage Foundation posted today Barak Obama's speech was a big disappointment.  He failed to soundly defend the ideal of free speech.  He failed to stand up to Iran.  He failed to stand with Israel our long time Ally and friend in the middle east.  He failed to promote economic freedom.  And he failed to project American Strength.

It is time for President Obama to stop pandering to world leaders, especially dictators, and stop apologizing for America and her values.  If he continues the american people may begin to think he is not "proud to be an american," or worse that he dislikes america and her values and would like to change her into

Paul Ryan at AARP

Paul Ryan spoke to the AARP and was booed because he spoke the truth about "Obamacare".  The AARP was a full fledged supporter of "Obamacare" (their only complaint was that it didn't go far enough and was not a government single payer plan).  The fact that they booed Paul Ryan for trying to speak the truth and to show a plan that would actually save medicare should not be a suprise after all the AARP has become a completely liberal (i.e. socialist) wing of the democratic party.  Liberal organizations have no interest in the truth, what is practical and works, or if it is affordable.  Their interests lie in control and producing a servile populace.  The exact opposite of
